Download Tayfa for Windows, macOS, or Linux. No account required.
Connect
Add your OpenAI or Anthropic API key — stored in your OS keychain — or point Tayfa at a local Ollama instance.
Summon
Press Alt+Q (Option+Q on Mac) from anywhere to show or hide the window. Paste from the clipboard with a second shortcut when you need to.
Ask
Pick an agent, type or dictate, and get streaming replies. Use the TR↔EN translator, web search with citations, or tabs to keep separate threads.

FAQ
What is BYOK?+
BYOK means Bring Your Own Key. You add an OpenAI or Anthropic API key (or run Ollama locally), and Tayfa sends your messages to that provider. You pay the provider directly for usage. Tayfa does not host your chats or bill you for tokens in the free desktop app.
How is this different from ChatGPT?+
ChatGPT is a full web app with its own account and models. Tayfa is a small desktop companion: global hotkey, always-on-top window, tabbed threads, purpose-built agents (especially TR↔EN translation), local Whisper dictation, clipboard capture, and optional web search with citations — while you keep control of provider choice and API keys.
Is my data private?+
The desktop app requires no Tayfa account and ships without in-app telemetry. API keys are stored in your OS keychain when available; settings and your last session are saved locally on your machine. Messages go to the LLM provider you configure. Local dictation runs Whisper on your device; cloud dictation sends audio to OpenAI only if you enable that mode.
What platforms are supported?+
Tayfa targets Windows, macOS (11.0+), and Linux (.deb, .AppImage, .rpm). It is built with Tauri for a lighter footprint than typical Electron assistants. macOS builds are separate Apple Silicon and Intel DMGs today; a universal binary may follow later.
Is this open source?+
